Sustainability relates to everything we consume and make. It is part of every aspect of the print and digital design industries; from the paper we print on, to the energy used to generate the electricity to power our machines and studio. Everything we interact with on this planet is interconnected, so understanding how to first limit our environmental footprint is extremely important.

Green design is a stepping-stone towards more sustainable solutions. The ultimate goal of a green designer is to minimize his/her environmental footprint with their final artifact. This means to choose non-toxic, recycled/post-consumer or reused materials, minimize the project's carbon footprint, ensure you value people by creating things that people truly need, and when choosing vendors, find those that pay a living wage and care about their employees health.
