Yes, with drum brakes in both front and rear wheels plus a
special regenerative electric braking system, you have a very dependable,
safe, user-friendly vehicle for any member of the family to operate.
Furthermore, MOBILEC-EV has been certified for its road-worthiness and high
safety standards by the Swiss Federal Office of Road Transport as well as by
the Electro-Mechanical Association of Switzerland. |
5. "Q" - How long has MOBILEC-EV been under development?

More than eight years. Financial support and technical
guidance have come from the Swiss Federal Department of Energy and original
design and development work by the international staff of SYTREL
INTERNATIONAL INC., in an effort to produce the world's first affordable,
environment-friendly 'Moped-Class' mode of urban transport. |
6. "Q" - Can anyone in the family use the MOBILEC-EV?

Yes. Mom can use it for shopping, especially in inner-city
areas with limited car parking facilities. The children can go back and
forth to school with it, and Dad can commute to and from nearby mass transit
bus/rail stations. It is also ideal for many industrial applications such as
transporting people in large factories, exhibition grounds and even
airports. |
7. "Q" - Do you need a special license and insurance to operate
MOBILEC-EV?

Normally, no special license or insurance is required. In
fact, in the USA, a law was recently passed by the U.S. Congress which seeks
to popularize the use of a 'Moped-Class' electric vehicle like MOBILEC-EV,
by classifying it as a 'Low-speed Electric Bicycle' instead of
a 'motorcycle-type' vehicle which is subject to the more stringent rules and
regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation. |
8. "Q" - Can I still choose to use pedals to operate the MOBILEC-EV?
"A" - |
Yes, for both safety and health reasons, the rider has the
option to use the vehicle's pedal. For example, when going up a hill with a
gradient of more than 15%, or when the rider chooses to get more physical
exercise. However, unlike other electric vehicles, the use of its pedals is
not needed to either start the vehicle or to use them continually as an
auxiliary source of power. |
9. "Q" - How do you know how much energy you have left in your
batteries and how fast
are you going?
"A" - |
Both an accurate easy-to-read indicator tells you at a glance
how much farther you can travel before a battery re-charge is necessary. A
speedometer is also located in the handlebars for speed and autonomy control
and in the same location there is a front fork lock and a key switch for
electric cut-off as well as a central safety stop button. |
10. "Q" - How much is MOBILEC-EV expected to cost and operate?
"A" - |
It is expected to have a retail price (including two sealed
lead-acid batteries) of about US$ 1,200. The vehicle's extremely low
operating costs is reflected in the fact that is uses the equivalent of one
U.S. cent worth of electricity for each mile it travels. |
